The Cellist of Sarajevo is one that's been on my list for ages and I haven't gotten around to it yet. I clicked on your review and what your comment about hope at the end reminded me of Recovering Charles, a novel by Jason F. Wright. It's also a great story of hope, and faith, and second chances that's set in more recent times -- post-Katrina New Orleans. If you get a chance to read it, I think you'd really enjoy it.

You did good. I read 31 short stories and two books. Not bad after two months of reading slump.

Here is my SS post!
